Mine's Russian but it does have a very nice pig-sticker bayonet !

Anyone know how to 'date' one of these because I'm certain the 1944 is just the year the model was introduced. It does have a 1944 lightly stamped on it along with some Russian symbols.

I've very pleased with its appearance after seeing a lot of banged up ones at the show that looked like training rifles.........also got a small black pouch with tools and a small oil bottle too w/ a mini copy of an instruction manual.

I`m green with envy here in NYC.

I used to have an M44 bayo,it`s a great piece of metal, much better than the Chinese SKS spike,it begs to be installed inside a cane.

:rolleyes_m: Welcome to the club...you have now contracted the dreaded disease Mosinitis...which is incurable by the way.

:D:D:D

Nice...very clean...congratulations,they are a blast to shoot.

I have to keep buying Mosins because the current little Russian guys in the gun cabinet run out of things to talk about.

I try to bring in a new friend every chance I get. Stir them up :>)

Current Red Army:

2- M38's
4- M44's
6 -SKS's
2 -M91/59's

All Russian...A mix of Tula and Izzy

7.62X54R Milsurp ammo is still somewhat reasonable in bulk.

7.62X39 ? Don't even ask :>) It's went ballistic ( pun intended ).

There is no such thing as too many Mosins.

Nice pick-up. Cheap ammo, and it's the most successful sniper rifle in history.

The best round ever.

These Nagants run a close second, lit bit of a shoulder bruisers they are.

Yeah, since we're talking about rounds here's a nice little pic comparison for others not familiar with 7.62 NATO.......

From left to right we have a .45 ACP, a 7.62x39, and the BIG 7.62x54R.......just checkout the ball (slug) on the end of that behemoth. :bear_w00t:

Very nice Dragon. I only have the one M-44 but am picking up a new M-39 Finn today. The milsurp ammo is still pretty cheap. Read up on how to deal with the corrosive salts from the primers, but it's no great shake. Got 800rds from J&G Sales for $80 plus shipping. Enjoy.

RiverRat: I am jealous big time..... now where is my check book???

I bought a case of these #20 rifles for $80 each three gun shows back. They are greased up and in the army green wooden storage case (they had four cases at the show). I threw in some desicant to be on the safe side and tucked them away. Also picked up thousands of rounds of Czeck ammo in the Tuna can boxes from a place called cheaper ammo or something like that on the internet. I only have #18 rifles left. I sold two of them for $120 each (which is what they generally go for around here). Love these rifles.

Looks like a 1944 to me. The stock bolsters are brass instead of steel. Also on the top of the barrel extension will be a date. That will be the date the barrel was assembled on the rifle.

I love old Mosins

I love Mosins. My favorite Mosin website is here:

Another really good one is here:

Gunboards was excellent once upon a time but it's deteriorated terribly over the past year or so and is lame now. Runaway greed and ego do such things.

Nice Avatar, Buff01.... I saw them in 90 or 91 with ND.
Awesome show.

To stay on topic - That rifle looks very similar to one my father has.
